Time to pack your saddlebags, shine your boots and head down to Tejas, y’all! This is what it’s all about! What a state! What amazing people.
To Texas! Land in Austin in the late afternoon. Dinner, hang-round. Ready to go!
Early start south all the way to the coast and the little village with the biggest heart, Palacios. Two nights at the Luther Hotel and lemme tell you this is something you’ll never forget. Turn of the century opulence, patina, prominent ghosts and hospitality. Pickin’ on the porch. A view out over the Gulf. Jack, Marybeth and Randy’ll take good care of us!
Sunny morning i Palacios. Time stands still. We’ll take a day-ride to the fishing village of Indianola,.actually there’s no village left. Now, a ghost town completely wiped out by a hurricane way back when. We return to Luther for a BBQ-party with all the fixings’. Texas style!
We leave Palacios and head west/southwest down to Corpus Christi and the ferry across to Port Aransas. Groovy little alternative hippie-town, great bars and restaurants, loads of fun and interesting things to see.
Early ass-up ond north to San Antonio with a stop in Goliad and Presidio La Bahia, an old fortress and important historical marker for Texas struggle for liberation from Mexico. Heavy. Interesting. Onward to San Antonio. The Alamo! The Riverwalk. Amazing.
Up into the hills and plaines to Leakey, a village on the entrance to The Three Twisted Sisters, a biker bucket-list run containing lots of curves, hills, etc. Fun and challenging! This evening we stay in Kerrville, central Texas cultural hang-out. Food, music, fun.
To Austin! One of USA’s most important music and arts city with its famous 6th Street. Damn, this place rocks. Stevie Ray, ZZ Top etc. they ALL cut their chops on 6th Street!
More Austin! A chill-day as a pedestrian! All able to discover this great town on their own. Ett tips: Stevie Ray Vaughans statue down by the river.
